The primary funding source for its contruction was from the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC). http://www.pparc.ac.uk
This was supported by funding from the Royal Society Paul Instrument Fund. http://www.royalsoc.ac.uk
The education material has been funded by PPARC and by the Nuffield Foundation. http://www.nuffieldfoundation.org. The development of the education programme has been supported by staff from the Centre for Science Education at the Sheffield Hallam University. http://www.shu.ac.uk/cse/site. The Centre for Science Education has also provided funding support for education resources.
